About the role
The Estimator in Training at Gerber Collision & Glass works closely with the Estimator to learn how to effectively diagnose and prepare estimates for repair, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and profitability according to insurance partner and company guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers at repair drop-off and build rapport.
- Map damage with customers, document previous and current losses, and identify WOW opportunities.
- Handle repair mapping, take initial photographs, upload photos and notes to CCC One, and notify production of vehicle arrival.
- Verify estimates during teardown, finalize estimates using proper templates, and work with the repair team to ensure correct notations on windshields.
- Put together final parts lists, use the Promise Date Calculator to set promise dates, and call customers to review estimates and promise dates.
- Update customers regularly, participate in and contribute to production meetings, and schedule vehicles for completion the next day.
- Follow up with technicians after vehicle tear-down and make adjustments to estimates if needed.
- Aid insurance adjusters with damage reports and provide service to insurance claim re-inspectors.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.
- Must currently possess or successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.
- Preferred: 4-6 years related work experience.
- Photo-imaging software experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products is preferred.
- Good decision-making ability and sound judgment.
