Estimator In Training

About the role

The Estimator in Training at Gerber Collision & Glass works closely with the Estimator to learn how to effectively diagnose and prepare estimates for repair. They are responsible for communicating the value Gerber provides, resulting in a high closed sales ratio.

Responsibilities

• Ensures consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Greets customers at repair drop-off and builds rapport.
• Maps damage with customers, taking initial photographs, and uploading to CCC One.
• Notifies production that vehicles have arrived and places them in the production queue.
• Verifies estimates during teardown and finalizes them using the proper Repair Planning Template.
• Works with the repair team to ensure notations on windshields are correct and complete.
• Puts together final parts lists and uses the Promise Date Calculator to set promise dates.
• Calls customers to review estimates and promise dates, updating them regularly.
• Participates in and contributes to regular production meetings.
• Schedules vehicles for completion the next day and follows up with technicians after tear-down, making adjustments to estimates if necessary.
• Assists insurance adjusters with damage reports and provides service to insurance claim re-inspectors.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Prior customer service experience.
• Must currently possess or successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.
• Preferred: 4-6 years related work experience.
• Photo-imaging software experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer literate.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products is preferred.
• Good decision-making ability and sound judgment.
