About the role
Our client is a leading residential General Contractor and Construction Management firm operating throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Their projects include ground-up market-rate rentals and affordable housing developments. The Senior Estimator will manage, supervise, coordinate, and successfully complete the preconstruction phase to meet planning objectives related to cost, logistics, scheduling, estimating, and subcontracting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall preconstruction process, delivering comprehensive estimates that include competitive bids, negotiated proposals, cost estimates, analysis, and budgets.
- Prepare and execute project win strategies, including leading internal and external presentations of estimates and proposals to support business development.
- Oversee project teams to ensure successful execution and completion of the preconstruction process.
- Manage relationships with key clients and design team contacts during the preconstruction phase.
- Perform estimating tasks as needed, including self-perform estimating and creating conceptual budgets.
- Partner with operations to review project risk assessment, scoring, and completion.
- Review the project business plan with stakeholders such as operations and office leadership to ensure alignment and profitability.
- Develop and manage departmental and project win strategies, leveraging leads and relationships to enhance business development efforts.
- Oversee the final review, development, and accuracy of takeoffs and internal pricing.
- Assume an influential leadership role in community and industry relationship building through networking and representing the organization.
- Collaborate with operations executives to develop business plans and overall business strategies.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience, project management experience, project supervision experience, or an equivalent combination of experience.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
- Proficient in project management software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products.
- Knowledge of Timberline Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, and Primavera scheduling software is desirable.
