Estimator

About the role

SouthernCross Construction, Inc, a growing heavy civil and infrastructure construction company, is seeking a Civil Estimator with experience in Utilities and Heavy Civil Projects. The position entails quantity take-offs, cost analysis, interaction and solicitation of subcontractors, and utilization of current estimating software including Agtek, HCSS, and Blue Beam. The candidate should have expertise in utility, civil, and earthwork scopes.

Preparation of cost estimates, interaction with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and others requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis
• Interact and solicit subcontractors
• Utilize estimating software (Agtek, HCSS, Blue Beam)
• Prepare cost estimates for utility, civil, and earthwork scopes
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• Knowledge of construction costs and budgets
• Knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment
• Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Office and Bluebeam
• Experience with estimating software (Agtek, HCSS, or similar) is a plus
• Proficiency with spreadsheets
• Ability to work in a team and promote teamwork
• 4-5 years of estimating experience
• Ability to reliably commute or relocate to Raleigh, NC 27606 before starting work (preferred)

Qualifications

• College degree related to Construction Management, Estimating, or Engineering (preferred but not mandatory)
• Knowledge of local municipal construction standards and NCDOT standards (a plus)
