About the role
In this position, you will be responsible for developing accurate and timely estimates for both private and public works projects. You will review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports, and existing site conditions to determine the scope of work. You will attend pre-bid meetings, prepare pre-bid RFI’s, solicit subcontractors and vendors, assist in coordinating the scope of work, prepare estimates, interface with owners and other contractors, assist with project startup, estimate handoff and budgeting, monitor post-bid submission dates, and more.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports, and existing site conditions to determine scope of work
- Attend pre-bid meetings
- Prepare pre-bid RFI’s prior to specification cutoff date
- Solicit subcontractors and vendors prior to bid date to ensure coverage of scope of work
- Afford assistance in coordination of scope of work with other Griffith Division and subcontractors
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete take off of scope of work
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimating figures
- Interface with Owner and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility
- Afford assistance with project startup / estimate handoff and budgeting
- Monitor post bid submission dates towards contract procurement
- Follow awarded contracts as assigned. May include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, monitoring progress, cost/budget, revenue, etc.
- Lead bid closings
- Mentor, guide and train estimating staff
- Afford assistance to Chief Estimator with B2W maintenance and updates
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in alternative delivery pursuits
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree would be preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience
- 5+ years of Estimating experience
- Minimum 1 year of field experience
Qualifications
- Ability to lead estimates for bids up to $75,000,000
- Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent writing, presentation, and computer skills
- Become advanced in Bid2Win Estimating software
- Become proficient in Agtek, SureTrak, Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Become proficient in Blue Beam and Sketch up
- Advanced in reading plans and specifications
- Advanced in takeoffs
- Understanding of construction sequencing and project staffing requirements
- Familiarity with Contract Accounting
- Understanding of critical path
- Valid driver’s license

$80,000 - $150,000 (depending on level of experience and qualifications)
