Estimator

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and summaries for site work including grading, storm drain, utilities and various other civil scopes
• Prepare full-service cost estimates for various site construction projects including gathering and analyzing in-house and historical cost data
• Solicit material and sub-quote proposals
• Review bid packages (specifications, plans, CAD files, geotechnical reports, etc)
• Analyze construction risk through site visits, plan interpretation, and scope understanding
• Rough estimate scheduling
• Must be able to read both civil and architectural plans
• Must be a self-starter with a bid-to-win mentality and ability to work on multiple estimates simultaneously
• Must be willing to work independently with little supervision or with a team on larger estimates and have a willingness to be flexible in duties and have a “get-it-done” attitude
• Must pass post-offer drug screen
• Must provide proof of eligibility to legally work in the US
• All new hires will be processed through E-Verify
• Some travel may be required
• Prepare detailed project hand-off package and communicate all aspects of the bid to field personnel on bids that are awarded
• Independently estimate a large-sized project
• Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc

Experience/Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as Construction Estimator
• Estimating experience for large civil site development in both the residential and commercial market
• Estimating experience for roadway construction and working with DOT/Municipalities
• Estimating experience in underground utilities (Water, Sewer, Storm)
• Project Management experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook and Word required
• Proficiency using Take-Off software (Agtek Preferred)
• Proficiency using Estimating Software (HCSS Heavybid Preferred)
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred but not required
