Key Responsibilities
- Supports the Estimating Team with data entry, quote formatting and quote document preparation.
- Evaluates customer request for quotation (RFQ) with ability to identify incomplete information or risks.
- Escalates non-standard request or information to Estimator II or Estimator III mentor.
- Create a formal quote/bid and related documents for standard quotes with moderate supervision.
- Maintain, and revise, all quote cost data and records contingent on changing conditions, methods and other factors involved.
- Learns to use internal pricing tools, pricing methods and pricing processes.
- Obtain quotes from outside suppliers for standard buyout materials as required.
- Learn to use available structural engineering tools to assess product requirements; while learning product limitations for structural, thermal, and associated performance requirements.
- Competent knowledge of pricing processes and in the use of pricing programs/systems; with ability to manage multiple quotes simultaneously with accuracy.
- Learn to read/interpret project specifications and architectural if required for company brand pricing processes.

Experience & Skills
- Education: 2-year technical degree or related experience preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of estimating or closely related manufacturing or construction experience.

About the Role
The Estimator I will learn fenestration products, terminology and quoting tools to prepare Regular Production cost estimates for projects based on customer supplied takeoffs as a basis for supplying pricing quotations. Assigned training work would involve quoting basic systems, standard configurations with repetitive systems or stock lengths list. The estimator would train with a senior estimator (Level II or III) to learn multiple windows and/or storefront/curtain wall product lines; with the goal of gaining an understanding of product limitations, performance requirements and basic anchoring requirements for product install, a technical knowledge of manufacturing practices, material identifiers and cost estimating procedures.
