Responsibilities
- Project Understanding and Preparation: Understand the clients' needs to help develop a detailed estimate
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant data
- Plan and Specification Analysis: Review and analyze project specifications, construction plans, geotechnical reports, and related documentation to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Software Utilization: Agtek - Generate precise earthwork calculations, including cut and fill volumes
Bluebeam - Visually assess project scope and quantify measurable items such as lengths, areas, and counts
Excel - Complies detailed material quantities, volumes, and tonnage, providing organized data that estimators use for cost development during the bid preparation process - Bid Management: Attend pre-bid meetings and assist in the preparation of bids and proposals
- Post-project Evaluations: Participate in post-project evaluations to improve future estimating practices
- Deliver Contracts, Bids, and Related Documents: Handle miscellaneous tasks such as picking up plans, plan copying, etc.
- Affiliate Projects: Assist estimators on various projects and additional duties as directed
- Stay Updated: Remain current on industry trends, materials, and construction techniques
- Team Building: Build meaningful relationships with your peers through collaboration on projects, shared responsibilities, and team-building activities
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering. Estimating Engineering experience preferred but not required
- Proficient in MS Office, Word and Excel
- Familiar with Agtek, AutoCad and Blue Beam
- Ability to learn new programs quickly
- Undergraduate level math skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to communicate with internal and external personnel of all levels
