Estimating Director- Electrical

About the role

EPI Power is hiring an Estimating Director to lead the Estimating department and provide strategic direction for future growth. The position is based in Des Moines, IA and requires current residency or willingness to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with project scopes and value analysis
• Assist in creating appropriate contract language to protect the company
• Provide professional insights on cost, market impacts, and project feasibility
• Lead preconstruction team meetings and ensure effective communication and information sharing
• Develop conceptual estimates and feasibility studies as needed
• Review and refine estimates for accuracy and quality
• Create and manage project schedules
• Collaborate with the construction team to develop comprehensive project plans
• Transfer information between preconstruction and operations teams
• Obtain and evaluate quotations for various project expenses
• Manage the prequalification process for subcontractors and vendors

Requirements

• At least ten years of extensive estimating and/or project management experience
• Electrical contracting experience with a focus on hyperscale/data centers
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
• Understanding of material escalation, procurement risks, and trade impacts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Accubid, Excel, and cost benchmarking systems
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and computer software
