POSITION SUMMARY
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree and 3 years of paralegal experience
- An equivalent combination of education and paralegal experience may be considered
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal or factual issues and integrate information from multiple sources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office application and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw or equivalent)
- Experience meeting billable hour expectations and managing multiple matters preferred
- Experience with EDMs and Lowa Land Records (preferred)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide substantive paralegal support to attorneys in connection with estate planning, trust and probate administration, transactions, and corporate compliance
- Conduct factual and legal research; analyze, organize, and summarize information for attorney review
- Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, forms, and reports in accordance with attorney direction and firm standards
- Assist with case, matter, and document management, including maintaining accurate and well-organized files in accordance with firm policies
- Monitor and manage deadlines, calendars, and task lists to support timely completion of work
- Cook up with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, and firm staff as appropriate
- Support billing, timekeeping, and matter reporting requirements
- Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative teams across the firm
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on practice group or firm needs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Solid working knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and procedures relevant to law firm environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Excellent attention to detail, including advanced proofreading and document-quality skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate sound judgment
- Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and standard office technology
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, workflows, and practice-specific requirements
