Responsibilities

  • Lead Client Meetings: Facilitate estate planning design, review, and signing appointments, helping clients make informed decisions with clarity and confidence.
  • Explain Legal Concepts Simply: Break down complex estate planning tools (trusts, wills, powers of attorney, etc.) in plain English so clients feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
  • Build Client Trust: Establish rapport quickly and maintain strong, professional relationships throughout the planning process and beyond.
  • Provide Legal Oversight: Ensure the accuracy and legal integrity of all documents prepared under your supervision, in alignment with client goals.
  • Collaborate with Paralegals & Legal Team: Work closely with support staff to ensure smooth case flow, timely deliverables, and a cohesive client experience.
  • Respond to Client Inquiries: Serve as a resource for past and current clients needing clarification, updates, or guidance on their plans.
  • Maintain Accurate Case Documentation: Record meeting outcomes and client preferences in our systems to support continuity of service and team coordination.
  • Contribute to Firm Culture & Growth: Participate in team meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives aligned with our core values and EOS framework.
  • Promote Client Follow-Through: Help ensure clients complete next steps such as trust funding or beneficiary alignment, reinforcing the importance of full implementation.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice law in the State of Michigan.
  • 2+ years of experience in estate planning or a related area of law (e.g., elder law, probate, or trust administration).
  • Strong client communication skills — able to explain complex legal concepts in clear, simple terms.
  • Confident leading client-facing meetings, both in-person and via Zoom.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong writing and drafting skills, with experience reviewing and editing estate planning documents.
  • A proactive, team-first mindset with a desire to collaborate and contribute to a growing practice.
  • Comfort with legal technology and systems (we use Clio, Lawmatics, and Monday.com).
  • Alignment with our core values and commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
