Estate Planning Attorney

About the role
We’re a fast-growing boutique law firm in Manhattan built on the idea that sophisticated legal work and a human-sized team aren’t mutually exclusive. Our private wealth group handles high-net-worth estate planning and has grown into one of the busiest practices of its size in the city. We’re profitable, growing roughly 30% year over year, and still small enough that everyone is known by name.
Why join us
- Real ownership — run matters independently and own client relationships from day one, not year five.
- True HNW substance — grantor trusts, GRATs, family LLCs, complex succession and trust administration, not template wills.
- A genuine partnership track — non-equity to equity, with origination credit built in early (15–20%).
- A sustainable billing environment — roughly 1,800-hour expectation; real work without the BigLaw grind.
- Built by a partner who wants to bring people up with him, with visibility and client-facing responsibility from the start.
Responsibilities
- Drafting and advising on grantor trusts, GRATs, family LLCs, and comparable wealth-transfer vehicles.
- Owning direct client communication and relationships.
- Managing complex succession and trust administration matters.
Requirements
- 6+ years of dedicated trusts & estates / private wealth experience at a law firm.
- Active New York bar admission.
- Demonstrated drafting fluency in grantor trusts, GRATs, family LLCs, or comparable wealth-transfer vehicles.
- Comfortable owning direct client communication, not just drafting in the background.
- Based in or able to work from Manhattan (in-office).
Compensation
Compensation is competitive with the New York private wealth market for this experience level, with early origination credit.
