Estate Groundskeeper

About the Role

This position performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of grounds and landscapes. Responsibilities include operating electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, using small hand and power tools for planting, cultivating, and trimming, and performing minor repairs on equipment and tools as directed.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks related to the care of grounds and landscapes, including seeding, watering, mulching, fertilizing, and applying chemicals to lawns, turf, and plantings.
• Inspect plant materials for insects, disease, or damage and identify replacements.
• Transplant, prune, trim, and cultivate trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers; store and care for bulbs and cuttings during winter.
• Conduct regular grounds and landscape maintenance, such as mowing lawns, trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, and sidewalks, weeding flower beds, and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Assist in snow and ice removal by operating snow blowers, tractors, or mowers with blades, shoveling snow, and spreading sand, salt, or chat on icy surfaces.
• Apply chemicals safely and properly, following written or verbal directions for mixing and application, and disposing of or storing residual chemicals as directed.
• Safely operate light vehicles (e.g., pick-up trucks, tractors) and portable power tools (e.g., saws, grass trimmers, snow/leaf blowers) while adhering to safety protocols.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Clear results from background check (employment, criminal, education, motor vehicle).
• Dependable transportation.
• Strong work ethic and trustworthy.

No formal supervisory responsibilities.
