About the role

Improve student achievement by assisting a licensed teacher in the planning and implementation of an educational program, including individualized education programs (IEPs). Assigned educational programs may include both general and special education settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed teacher in planning and implementing educational programs
• Support implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Work in both general and special education settings as assigned

Requirements

• ESSA documentation required — must meet federal Every Student Succeeds Act proficiency requirements for paraprofessionals in Title I funded schools
• Attach transcripts and/or test results to application for ESSA verification

Qualifications

Per ESSA, paraprofessionals in Title I schools must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and math. Acceptable documentation includes college transcripts (associate degree or higher, or 2+ years of college coursework) or passing scores on a district-approved assessment. Materials will be reviewed to verify requirements are met.
