About the role
The Filler Operator is responsible for running and maintaining fillers and related equipment. They process milk, cream, and other beverage products according to specified methods and formulas, ensuring quality, food safety, and adherence to product specifications.
Responsibilities
- Clean, set-up, operate, and monitor production line equipment.
- Operate ingredients distribution feeder.
- Complete scheduled quality checks.
- Maintain communication with other departments and management.
- Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality and troubleshoot.
- Ensure proper packaging materials are used for each product.
- Perform filler and line changeovers.
- Prepare equipment for next run, including size changes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
- Report food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
- Document all required information in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow Quality Assurance standards and collect samples for testing.
- Ensure paperwork is filled out accurately and completely.
- Communicate mechanical and operational defects as they arise.
- Work in various temperature-controlled zones, ranging from cold to hot.
- Operate equipment at recommended speeds.
- Work in a cold and wet environment for prolonged periods.
- Reach up to 31-77 inches regularly.
- Occasionally sit and occasionally climb ladders or work on platforms.
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3+ months experience in manufacturing, dairy, or another related field preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to work in various temperature-controlled zones and perform tasks requiring frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and crawling.
- Must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to work in tight and awkward areas and positions.
Skills
- Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance protocols.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
