About the role

The ERSEA Outreach Ambassador serves as the primary navigator to link families and children to Early Head Start and Head Start services. Implements Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA) policies and procedures for assigned ECE programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in ongoing recruitment of families and children according to ERSEA ranking criteria for the Early Head Start and Head Start programs.
  • Maintains list of community outreach activities and primary recruitment locations.
  • Meets monthly goal numbers of potential families to enroll in Early Head Start and/or Head Start and meets the expected conversion rate of families enrolling from those recruited.
  • Affords assistance to families in completing pre-enrollment applications, collects eligibility information, and enters it into ChildPlus.
  • Outreaches to potential families from a call list to inform them of the program and its benefits and enroll them in services. Outreach includes phone calls, in-person visits, letters, emails, and text messages.
  • Attends assigned community events and meetings on behalf of CII to represent the organization, and the Early Childhood Education program, supports program visibility and enrollment.
  • Serves as a liaison between potential families, and other community resources. Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with children and families and works effectively within CII and community at large.
  • Initiates and maintains effective communication flow between community groups, and organizations.
  • Participates in required meetings/trainings by funder as assigned.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation ensuring compliance of service standards and policies as stipulated by contract.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of community-based program experience.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance. Must have reliable vehicle for transportation.
  • Required to travel extensively (> 75% of the time).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, social service agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal income requirements.
  • Maintains client privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
  • Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.
