About the role
Schwab Retirement Plan Services provides third-party recordkeeping and retirement plan administration to midsized and large employers nationwide. We assist plan sponsors to ensure that plans are operated in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, following IRS and DOL regulations and plan provisions. This position is in our ERISA Compliance group and is based on-site in Austin, Dallas, Omaha, or Indianapolis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ADP/ACP testing, Top Heavy testing, Coverage testing, 401(a)(4) Nondiscrimination testing, and Form 5500s within statutory timelines.
- Perform testing and serve as the primary liaison with ERISA Consulting, external clients, and Relationship Management for complex ERISA Compliance testing issues.
- Assist clients with preparation of allocations of employer contributions and specialized testing.
- Partner closely with Relationship Management and other teams to address higher-level client issues and external auditor requests.
- Serve as a direct contact with plan sponsors and their external auditors to add value and retain clients.
- Act as a resource for less experienced staff and complete peer reviews of assigned work.
- Take on additional project leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- 3-7 years in the qualified retirement plan industry, with significant direct experience in providing ERISA Compliance testing and reporting services.
- Thorough knowledge of IRS & DOL Code and Regulations.
- Experience with complex non-discrimination testing, including 401(a)(4), 410(b), and 414(s).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High comfort level with Microsoft Excel and ability to meet stringent deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Math, or Finance (preferred).
- ASPPA QKA, QPA, or CPC Designation (preferred).
- Experience with ASC testing software and FT Williams Form 5500 system (preferred).
