About the role
Schwab Retirement Plan Services provides third party recordkeeping and retirement plan administration to midsized and large employers nationwide. This role involves preparing various compliance tests and assisting with ERISA compliance issues.
Responsibilities
- Preparing ADP/ACP testing, Top Heavy testing, Coverage testing, 401(a)(4) Nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 and Form 8955-SSA within statutory timelines.
- Performing tests on the largest and most complex plans, and acting as a primary liaison with ERISA Consulting, external clients, and Relationship Managers for complex ERISA Compliance testing issues.
- Assisting clients with the preparation of allocations of employer contributions and specialized testing.
- Partnering with Relationship Management and other teams to address higher-level client issues and respond to external auditor requests.
- Serving as a direct point of contact with plan sponsors and their external auditors to provide value and maintain client relationships.
- Leading efforts to improve, develop, and implement training programs and procedures.
- Supporting less experienced staff and conducting peer reviews of assigned work.
- Taking on additional project leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in the qualified retirement plan industry, with significant direct experience in providing ERISA Compliance testing and reporting services.
- Thorough knowledge of the IRS & DOL Code and Regulations, particularly in areas such as 401(a)(4), 410(b), and 414(s).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities, and a high comfort level with Microsoft Excel.
- Absence of a need to meet stringent deadlines, as this role does not involve meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Math, or Finance.
- ASPPA QKA, QPA, or CPC designation.
- Experience with Actuarial Systems Corporation (ASC) Testing and 5500 software.
