About the role

As an external evaluator for the Erasmus+ program, you will assess applications for the Mobility and Partnerships key actions based on Europe-wide criteria. The National Agency (NA) at BIBB is continuously seeking experts in vocational education and training (VET) and adult education to review submitted proposals.

Schedule

Evaluation periods for 2026 are expected to be as follows:

• Key Action 1 – Short-term projects: February to April 2026
• Key Action 1 – Accreditation: October 2026 to January 2027
• Key Action 2 – Partnerships: April to July 2026

Experienced evaluators may also be requested to assess final reports.

Requirements

Essential expertise:

• In-depth professional knowledge and thematic/sectoral expertise in German and European VET and/or adult education
• Competence in contextualizing project proposals within European and German education policy and practice
• Basic knowledge of European project management and financing
• Willingness to engage intensively with the Erasmus+ program
• For Key Action 2 evaluations: English proficiency at C1 level (reading and writing) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Additional requirements:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Experience with internet-based databases
• Internet connection, speakers and/or headset
• Adobe Acrobat Reader (standard version)

Exclusion criteria:

• Evaluators are excluded if they have a direct or indirect connection to a funding application submitted in the same year and educational sector of the respective key action, to avoid conflicts of interest.

Pay

The evaluation activity is remunerated as follows:

• Mobility (KA1) Short-term projects: €150 / €120 per application
• Mobility (KA1) Accreditation: €160 / €130 per application
• Small-scale Partnerships (KA2): €120 per application
• Cooperation Partnerships (KA2):
  • Budget €400,000: €290 / €250 per application
  • Budget €250,000: €260 / €220 per application
  • Budget €120,000: €230 / €190 per application

Participation in mandatory training and completion of a sample evaluation are each compensated with €50.

Training

The NA at BIBB provides mandatory training to prepare evaluators for their role. All evaluators must participate in this training.

Application process

Annual registration is required for all evaluators. If you have previously worked as an evaluator, you may indicate "Information available to the NA" in the fields for "experience in international educational cooperation" and "evaluation competencies."

The application process consists of two steps:

• Complete the online form for the relevant key action and educational sector you are applying for. If applying for multiple key actions and/or sectors, fill out all corresponding forms.
