About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant and Nurse Externs work under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. They perform multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient. They assist the nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.
Responsibilities
- Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.
- Affords assistance to patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking.
- Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
- Serves and collects food trays and provides patients with between-meal nourishment.
- Records temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED required. One year of patient care experience in a health care facility or as CNA is preferred or currently enrolled in an accredited Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree nursing program.
- Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina; must be current in the Nurse Aide Registry or a current nursing student required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Benefits
This is a PRN as-needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.

Pay Rate Type: Hourly
Pay Grade: Health-20
