ER Service Head

About the role

The BluePearl Pet Hospital in Overland Park is seeking a full-time ER Service Head to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a DVM from an accredited university, completed an internship, at least three years of ER experience, and previous leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the schedule for all ER Clinicians, including PTO requests.
• Facilitate regular ER Clinician meetings and participate in hospital leadership meetings.
• Mentor ER Clinicians and new ER/ICU support staff.
• Oversee ER Clinician case management and guidance on case management decisions.
• Integrate emergency and specialty services to manage all hospitalized cases.
• Act as the sounding board between ER Clinicians and Specialty Clinicians, discussing concerns with the Medical Director.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring patient safety reporting related to the emergency department.
• Contribute to recruiting new Emergency Clinicians and ensure new hires have assigned mentors.
• Partner with hospital leadership to identify opportunities and implement new initiatives for improving ER patient care, medical protocols, and client service levels.
• Stay informed about hospital issues and collaborate with the Medical Director and P&O on all ER/ICU personnel matters.
• Aid in performance reviews and assist the management team with client and pDVM concerns.
• Work with the management team to oversee capital purchases for the ICU/ER department.

Qualifications

• DVM from an accredited university
• Completed an internship
• At least three years of ER experience
• Previous leadership experience preferred
