About the role
Fountain Hills Medical Center is a newly established micro-hospital opening in 2021 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. It features 8 ER beds and 5 inpatient beds with full imaging and lab facilities.
Responsibilities
- Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and alleviate apprehension.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatment and examinations of patients.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients and notifies supervisors or physicians of significant conditions and reactions.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient conditions.
- Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessments for assigned patients.
- Initiates a patient education plan according to individualized patient needs, as prescribed by physicians and/or hospital policy, including patient and family instruction.
- Rotates among various clinical services such as obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient, and admitting, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
- Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
- Aids surgeons, obstetricians, or other medical practitioners during surgeries by handing items.
- Makes beds, bathes, and feeds patients.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BSN) from a four-year college or university.
- One to two years related ER experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active AZ or Compact State RN License.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical regulations, reports, journals, and documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the community.
- Basic computer knowledge.
