Equity Underwriting, Analyst
Purpose And Job Summary
The Equity Underwriting Analyst will support Originators and Equity Underwriters throughout the acquisition and closing processes with developers and investors in affordable housing LIHTC investment deals. The Analyst will provide support during the acquisitions and investor placement process, modeling, analysis and due diligence, and closing activities. Analysts will learn the equity underwriting lifecycle, processes, requirements, and help the team maintain high standards of deal quality, integrity, and structure. The Analyst will perform work that enables Equity Underwriters to maintain and enhance relationships with developers, investors, and investor advisors through timely, accurate, and thorough work product.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform initial review of materials related to perspective deal opportunities
- Prepare the initial investment model and a summary of key deal features
- Aid in the preparation of screening and investment committee packages
- Support the due diligence process with financial analysis, market analysis, and review of other information and material required to evaluate project feasibility
- Raise concerns and issues quickly to ensure they are addressed timely
- Support the management of due diligence by coordinating and working with various third parties
Education, Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or finance, preferred
- 0-2 years of related experience in any of the following areas: LIHTC, real estate, underwriting or finance
- Familiarity with affordable housing industry and Low Income Tax Credit (LIHTC), highly desirable
- Familiarity with general accounting principles, desired
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Ability and desire to gain an understanding of complex real estate and financial transactions, tax credit, and partnership requirements
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues timely and discern when to raise complex issues requiring additional support, timely
- Strong communication skills to successfully interact with all levels of staff and external stakeholders
- Solid writing skills
- Solid active listening skills to understand needs and concerns of stakeholders and support positive outcomes
- Solid critical thinking skills and strong work ethic
Pay
Annual base salary gross: $70,000 - $80,000 (MA only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of ORIX’s salary for this position based on geography. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX’s total compensation package for employees.
