Equity Research Senior Associate SMID Biotech
About the role
Citi's Equity Research team is seeking an Equity Research Associate to support our analyst covering the Biotech sector. The role involves contributing to high-quality investment insights that inform equity investors globally.
Responsibilities
- Support the production of equity research publications including earnings previews and recaps, initiation reports, and in-depth thematic notes across the Biotech sector.
- Build, maintain, and enhance financial models for covered Biotech companies, including the development of new models and upkeep of relative value frameworks.
- Advise and respond to client inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, delivering timely, accurate, and well-reasoned analysis.
- Cook up investor events including management meetings, field trips, and industry consultant calls, ensuring seamless execution and strong client experience.
- Partner with the lead analyst to develop research ideas and translate complex financial data into clear, actionable investment insights.
- Apply sound judgment when assessing the reputational and regulatory implications of business decisions, upholding Citi's standards of compliance and ethical conduct.
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a high-performance research culture built on knowledge sharing and analytical rigor.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in equity research or a closely related investment analysis role.
- A solid grounding in accounting principles and financial modeling, applied within an equity research context.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior equity research analysts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- A strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage and validate complex, multi-source financial information accurately.
- Active FINRA licenses — SIE, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 — or the ability and commitment to obtain and maintain these licenses.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Skills
- PhD or MD or MD/PhD degree or advanced degree in Biomedical Sciences (beneficial).
- Sector knowledge or prior coverage experience within the Biotech or life sciences industry (beneficial).
- Experience taking an informal leadership role within a research team, including involvement in coaching or onboarding colleagues (beneficial).
