About the role
The Senior Associate will join Jefferies' Specialty Finance and Financial Technology Research team. They will analyze industry macro trends and company financials, covering approximately 20 stocks, primarily consumer lenders and financial technology companies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models and industry databases
- Write earnings reports, company reports, monthly/weekly publications, and initiation of stock coverage reports
- Review business and trade publications, annual reports, financial filings, and other sources for data on companies followed by the Specialty Finance/Fintech Team
- Communicate recommendations to sales, trading, and clients
- Develop marketing materials for clients and attend industry conferences, when appropriate
Requirements
- 2-4 years of related experience, preferably in sell-side/buy-side equity research, or investment banking; within consumer finance / fintech
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – strong Excel skills are critical
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail in terms of written work and financial modeling
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize & deliver in a time-sensitive environment
- Ability to communicate and collaborate well in a team environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with high GPA, preferably in accounting, finance, economics, or computer science
- Strong interest in financial services
- Financial services experience a plus
- Solid experience in business modeling and financial statement analysis
- MBA/CFA/CPA a plus; Securities licensing a plus (Series 7/63 and 86/87)
Benefits
The position is based in San Francisco, and regular office attendance is required. A New York location may be considered for the right candidate. The salary range is $135,000 - $165,000, with additional benefits including:
