About the Role

The Equity Research Associate provides market research support in compiling and publishing high-quality, comprehensive analysis and research on individual corporations, industries, financial markets, and economic developments. This position will cover the Software & Business Services sector.

This is an expert-level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge and expertise in your domain, with working knowledge of broader related areas to run data analysis and develop research reports. You will integrate the broader organizational and industry context into advice and solutions, solve complex problems involving multiple variables, and use advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards. You will interpret guidelines, standards, policies, and analysis results to inform decision-making at senior levels, build stakeholder alignment, and work independently as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and evaluate data, conducting modeling on multiple data inputs related to assigned companies, industries, financial markets, and economic analysis research reports (e.g., initiating coverage reports, thematic reports, quarterly reporting initiatives, and marketing packages).
  • Assist in the development of valuation tools and provide advice to institutional clients.
  • Prepare forecasting models (e.g., forecast quarterly and annual earnings).
  • Maintain and enhance financial models and databases.
  • Stay current on market data, economic information, key industry developments, and internal policies and regulatory standards to assist in maximizing profitability through sound and well-informed decisions.
  • Develop and maintain contact with market participants.
  • Work closely with senior research leads on the ongoing publication of research reports and assist with ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Develop and present client presentations; may have direct interaction with clients.
  • Keep abreast of market data, economic information, and key industry developments to maximize profitability.
  • Demonstrate governance, control, and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices.
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies related to activities for the business area.
  • Ensure programs, policies, and practices meet business needs, comply with internal and external requirements, and align with business priorities.
  • Exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information, and confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-functional and enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert to identify risk and provide guidance for complex situations.
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development and delivery of presentations and communications to management or broader audiences.
  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level, using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, and assess effectiveness.
  • Monitor service, productivity, and efficiency levels within your function and implement continuous process and performance improvements.
  • Actively manage relationships within and across business lines, corporate, and control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
  • Participate fully as a team member, supporting a positive work environment that promotes service, quality, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Provide thought leadership and industry knowledge for your area of expertise and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and developments, and grow your knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques.
  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross-training within your team.
  • Keep others informed about the status and progress of projects and relevant day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to team development through mentorship, sharing knowledge and experiences, and leveraging best practices.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external business partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a fair, positive, and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area and the bank, both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 63, 86, and 87 licenses, or willingness to obtain them.
  • CFA designation preferred for publishing analysts and associates.
  • Master’s or PhD preferred.

Pay

$115,000 - $200,000 USD base pay. The base pay offered may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
