Equity Research Associate- Midstream & Natural Gas
About the Role
Wolfe Research is seeking an Associate to join its NY-based, Institutional Investor-ranked Midstream & Natural Gas Team. The Associate will report to the Senior Analyst and assist in all aspects of the franchise, including modeling, note writing, and creating differentiated research analyses. As they develop, responsibilities will expand to include client communication, collaboration with sales/traders, and participation in the creative process. The role demands accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, and strong writing, modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Experience in equity research, investment banking, public accounting, consulting, or the industry is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Generate ideas and work closely in a time-sensitive environment while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Draft reports and notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, working with large data sets in Excel/Access and sourcing/processing information independently
- Communicate efficiently and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Utilize technical skills, including Bloomberg and/or FactSet, advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, shortcuts), and statistics (regression, variance, covariance, correlations)
- Build and update financial and valuation models for covered companies
- Master Excel functions, including shortcuts, complex logic formulas, reference formulas, and integration of graphics/data tables
Requirements
- 2026 graduate or 1-3 years of experience in sell-side research (preferably on a Midstream, Oil & Gas, or Industrials team), buy-side, investment banking, or public accounting
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; concentration in Finance, Accounting, Math, or Statistics preferred
- MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus
- Advanced understanding of financial modeling, including experience building and maintaining 3-statement models
- Fully licensed with Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 (preferred or expected within the first 6 months)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enjoy following the stock market and developing industry themes
- Eager to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated academic ability with a minimum 3.5 GPA
- Comfortable working 10+ hour workdays and some weekends
Pay
The compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of $95,000–$120,000. The selected candidate will be offered a base salary within this range based on non-discriminatory factors, including skill set, job-related experience, and location. In addition, an annual discretionary incentive bonus is offered.
