About the role
The Equipment Technician Trainee assists with the maintenance, inspection, and support of machinery and equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience, supporting senior technicians while learning troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational best practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in routine inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Help troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and operational issues under supervision.
- Operate hand and power tools safely to support maintenance tasks.
- Document work performed, including repairs, parts used, and maintenance observations.
- Absorb and assist in installations, calibrations, or adjustments of equipment.
- Report equipment issues promptly to senior technicians or supervisors.
- Support the setup and preparation of equipment for production runs.
- Absorb in ensuring equipment and work areas meet safety and operational standards.
- Absorb in organizing and maintaining tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Work closely with senior technicians and other maintenance staff to complete tasks.
- Participate in training and mentoring to develop technical skills and knowledge.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational training or technical certification required.
- 0–2 years of experience in equipment maintenance, support, or related technical field; school labs or internships acceptable.
- A basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment.
- A strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- An ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
The role involves physical labor, exposure to varying temperatures, and handling potentially hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be used at all times. May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays.
