Equipment Technician Series - Springfield
Job Location

Responsibilities
Maintain and perform basic repairs to automobiles, trucks, tractors, loaders, motor graders, and other heavy equipment.
Inspect, service, repair, and overhaul transmissions, engines, clutches, drivelines, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies and ignition systems; repair and install hydraulic controls; tune motors using standard testing equipment; dismantle, repair, and reassemble air compressors, hydraulic jacks, pumps, cylinders, and related equipment.
Inspect, repair, overhaul, and assemble automotive components such as alternators, distributors, and starters.
Complete mandated fleet inspections and ensure all equipment meets OSHA standards and all repairs and modifications are done in accordance with operational specifications and safety standards.
May weld and modify equipment and fabricate parts.
Requirements
Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics, Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, OR Completion of a formal post-secondary technical training program in automobile or heavy equipment-related repair (of at least 30 credit hours or one school year in duration) AND one year of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair, OR Two years of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair.
A passing grade on the written portion of the commercial driver’s license (CDL) exam is required prior to the hire date.
Must pass the driving portion of the Class B CDL exam with tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions, and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]) within 60 days of hire into the position.
Successful completion of a work simulation examination and medical-physical examination.

Minimum qualifications include:

Skills
Physical stamina and endurance.
Exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
Operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.

Pay
The entry salary is posted above, with the Intermediate starting salary of $52,172.40, and a senior starting salary of $56,346.24.
