Responsibilities
- Functions as OR Equipment Technician.
- Interacts with nurses and medical staff to resolve technical problems encountered during surgery.
- Tests six makes or models of microscopes for safety and integrity prior to patient use and modifies diopter for specific surgical cases.
- Performs preoperative quality control check on YAG, Argon, Candela and COS Lasers.
- Performs daily pressure checks on oxygen and nitrogen hospital grade gas cylinders.
- Executes daily maintenance and testing of operative video systems.
- Acts as liaison with Bio Med and Maintenance Department: Delivers and picks up equipment promptly. Completes requisition order appropriately. Monitors what equipment is out for repair and follows through. Makes simple repairs as needed. Follows O.R. Policy on sterile technique when functioning in the Operating Room during surgical procedures.
- Clean, organizes and maintains equipment in storage area and ORs and restock laparoscopy carts.
- Clocks in/out and coordinates delivery of equipment and supplies to the OR.
- Functions as Operating Room Transport Aide: Picks up pre-operative patients from inpatient units. Verifies time for pick up with main desk. Verifies patient name and location with main desk. Verifies patient ID with floor nurse. Follows OR policy and assisting patient onto stretcher with assistance of floor nurse. Treats patients with dignity and respect while transporting. Assures patient's privacy.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Minimum of 6 months hospital experience.
