As an Equipment Specialist, you’ll join a collaborative team in Duncan, South Carolina, ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and production excellence. This role involves maintenance planning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and mentoring Machine Operators and Maintenance staff.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM – 2:30 AM.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree or certificate from a Vocational-Technical school.
  • 3+ years of related experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a printing environment.
  • Previous experience training operations staff (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated listening and presentation abilities.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling tools, repairing machines, and reviewing detailed reports.
  • Ability to lift tools and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand and walk for several hours throughout the day.
  • Willingness to admit mistakes, adapt to changing priorities, and take ownership of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment integrity and print quality, ensuring high standards at all times.
  • Design, plan, and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods.
  • Monitor and control maintenance costs; maintain equipment logs.
  • Supervise operator-driven maintenance and shift maintenance.
  • Conduct daily audits of printing quality and assist the Production team with shift maintenance.
  • Perform advanced maintenance (e.g., monthly cycles) and train operators to prevent equipment misuse.
  • Document training activities and generate reports; develop monthly tests for operator awareness.
  • Monitor printing conditions on a machine-by-machine basis.
  • Onboard new equipment, leading cross-functional teams for delivery, setup, and programming.
  • Record equipment conditions, frequent problems, and service actions; maximize equipment utilization.
  • Test applications and find efficient ways to print existing and new applications.
  • Train planning staff on the most efficient printing methods for each piece of equipment.
  • Minimize equipment-related downtime; diagnose breakdown problems.
  • Act as primary contact with equipment manufacturers; provide 24/7 phone support for Operators.
  • Perform field repairs, modifications, and advanced troubleshooting, including pre-diagnosing complex issues.
  • Order ink supplies and parts; prepare reports on usage and cost of consumables.
  • Coordinate electrical, compressed air, ventilation, and networking for printing equipment.
  • Monitor printing environment for temperature and humidity fluctuations.
  • Complete miscellaneous projects as requested by management.
