EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST

About the Role

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist at NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of operational capabilities and use of a variety of self-propelled Material Handling Equipment (MHE), with emphasis on functional limitations of form, fit, and function.
• Perform complex and difficult assignments such as repair, modification, and overhaul of MHE.
• Understand and apply Naval Supply Systems, including organizations, policies, and procedures related to MHE repair, maintenance, overhaul, and disposal.
• Utilize knowledge of the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) and standardized procedures for major overhauls, including processing, inspection, corrosion control, and test criteria to return equipment to A4 (like new) service condition.
• Demonstrate expertise in program and inventory management, including procurement, contract administration, provisioning, and allowance determination.
• Apply financial management skills relevant to property, survey reports, DoD standards for property inventory, and Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) standards.
• Exhibit leadership and organizational skills, with excellent interpersonal communication to represent the division in high-level conferences and meetings.
• Analyze situations and data to anticipate changing trends and implement procedures and policies to achieve management goals.
• Utilize knowledge of personal computers and automated supply and maintenance system procedures, techniques, and methods used by the Navy to evaluate, store, and retrieve files.
• Work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), MHE - Customer User Requirement & Tracking Information System (MHE - CURTIS), and Enterprise Logistics Management System (ELMS).
• Maintain a valid MHE license.

Requirements

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
