About the role

Elephas, a Madison, WI based biotechnology start-up company, is seeking a highly motivated operations equipment technical lead to join our team. Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This position is responsible for the coordination of all company equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of equipment needs at the company
  • Serve as a technical lead for management of the site’s equipment maintenance system, and train new users
  • Participate in and contribute to the preventative maintenance, calibration, and qualification activities required to maintain equipment in an operational state
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and technical resource for all equipment-related vendor inquiries
  • Maintain accurate equipment records that comply with all elements of the site’s Quality Management System
  • Initiate and revise appropriate equipment documentation, including standard operating procedures
  • Participate and/or lead equipment investigations arising from CAPA, deviations, and other quality system actions
  • Track and analyze equipment status, make recommendations for changes, and communicate critical equipment operational and repair status to management, peers, and affected departments
  • Assist departments in identifying/determining user needs for equipment, coordination of ordering/receipt, and installation
  • Serve as equipment liaison with Group and Lab managers to assess space requirements and location of equipment
  • Provide system administration to the site’s equipment monitoring system, including coordination of alarm responses during weekends and after-hours
  • Assist in material issuance to the laboratory
  • Assist with the receiving process, including verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders, documenting discrepancies, and ensuring materials are accurately logged and staged for storage or production use
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, carrier coordination, and ensuring proper documentation

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a science field with hands-on lab experience
  • Understanding of basic scientific equipment, instrumentation, and computer applications required
  • Familiarity and general understanding of user needs for lab equipment and equipment operations

  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment wearing appropriate PPE, as required
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, problem-solving, project management and communication/interpersonal skills

  • Results driven, proactive, and able to work autonomously
