Equipment Services Engineer [BHM or ATL]
About the role
This position will support the Equipment Services team by providing engineering support and technical expertise for transformer assets across the Southern Company footprint, with a primary focus on generation facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with plant personnel, project managers, system owners, supply chain management, and equipment vendors to support transformer reliability, maintenance, procurement, sparing strategy, and problem resolution initiatives. The position is flexible to be located at either the Energy Center in Birmingham, AL or 160 Lake Mirror Road in Forest Park, GA (Metro Atlanta). Some relocation assistance may be available if the successful candidate does not already live within a reasonable commute distance. This position will require a mix of both field and office work. A moderate amount of travel will be required (approximately 25%). Travel to vendors’ locations for audits and witness testing is required.
