Equipment Safety Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to existing design safety processes for automated equipment.
- Expand safety processes to include integrated multi-equipment systems.
- Continuously evaluate, refine, and improve compliance processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Aid in developing and delivering training programs to educate design and engineering teams on established safety processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for U.S.-based team members with questions about design safety.
- Conduct and review safety risk assessments for both individual equipment and integrated systems.
- Support the integration of “design for safety” principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Verify safety design compliance through reviews and prototype validation.
- Be prepared to act as a key contact for addressing customer inquiries and concerns related to equipment and system safety.
- Collaborate with other equipment assembly centers and cross-functional teams (engineering, project management, quality, Legal and customer support) to ensure alignment on safety practices.
- Maintain deep familiarity with and ensure compliance to relevant safety standards and regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA and ASME and NFPA standards EU Machinery Regulation and machinery normative standards. Other applicable national and international safety regulations and directives.
Qualifications
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in safety or another related field.
- A certification in a safety field.
- 5+ years of experience in equipment safety, compliance, or design engineering (preferably in automation or industrial machinery).
- Experience with both standalone equipment and integrated system design strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (including both OSHA/ASME and EU Machinery Regulation).
- Proven ability to conduct and review risk assessments in accordance with ISO 12100.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to train and mentor others at multiple levels.
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage customer-facing safety discussions.
- Willing to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
Functional Safety Certifications (Preferred)
- CMSE or equivalent.
- TÜV, CFSE, or equivalent.

Salary Range
$59,300 - $178,400
