About the Role
Performs skilled work in the operation of complex construction/maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for tasks of more than average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Work may be performed under hazardous conditions, requiring alertness and caution. Under general supervision, employees exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks, with work reviewed during and after completion.
Responsibilities
- Operate complex construction/maintenance equipment (e.g., backhoe, excavator, front-end loader with backhoe).
- Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Execute tasks under hazardous conditions with heightened attention to safety.
- Demonstrate proficiency in “wet line” and dump operations (preferred).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Four (4) or more years of experience operating a backhoe, excavator, or front-end loader with backhoe.
- CDL Class A required.
Qualifications
Preferred experience includes “wet line” and dump operations or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
If a degree is required for a position, the following experience may substitute:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree.
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master’s degree.
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
