EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - LINCOLN
Brief Description
Lewis and Clark County Public Works is hiring an Equipment Operator for Lincoln, MT. Under the general supervision of the Road Manager/Bridge Manager, this position performs road and bridge maintenance and repair. Must live within 30 miles of Lincoln, MT. Position is open until filled and applications will be reviewed weekly.
Summary
Duties:
- Performs all road maintenance and repairs, including, but not limited to patching, road grading, sweeping, snow plowing, equipment transport, drainage work and dust control;
- Operates a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to plow trucks, dump trucks, side dumps, hot asphalt patching trucks, rollers, loaders, backhoes, sweepers, dozers, water trucks, motor graders, mowers, transport trucks and lowboys;
- Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment;
- Performs bridge installation and repair using excavators, backhoes, bobcats, pneumatic tools and laser levels;
- Performs culvert maintenance, guardrail maintenance, and repair;
- Seeding;
- sign installation, repair and maintenance;
- Performs traffic control using hand signs and installing cones, signs and barricades;
- May assist in flood control operations and other emergency operations;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year road maintenance or road construction experience. Completion of an established apprenticeship program will be considered equivalent to the educational requirements and consideration will be given to the years of experience required for apprenticeship graduates. Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license.
Physical Demands
Position performs work in all types of weather and in conditions where dust, dirt, snow, ice, and debris are encountered. This position must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, and push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and random basis. May be required to nights, weekends, and holidays to respond to emergencies or other County needs.
