Equipment Operator/Laborer
About the role
As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will be responsible for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the Aggregates' Operations function, including operating heavy equipment such as Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Skid Steers, etc.
Essential Functions
- Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production
- Provide operational support at other company locations, including but not limited to 243 Quarry, Deer Creek, Flat Rock, and Springville, based on business needs
- Support overburden removal and material movement activities as assigned
- Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual
- Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment
- Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed
- Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required
- Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment
- Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained
- Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies
- Absorb and abide by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements
- Accurately complete all required paperwork
- Absorb and abide by terminals processes and procedures relating to product transfers, quality assurance, safety, and operations
- Complete required training and certifications necessary to perform duties safely and effectively
- Assist with site projects and operational improvements as needed
Education Qualifications
- High School or Equivalent
Skills And Abilities
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
- Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
- Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math
- Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
- Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
- Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
- Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
- Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred
Physical Demands
- Continuous standing or walking on level or uneven ground
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks
- Bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or knees
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs
- Work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy)
