About the role
As an Equipment Operator, you will safely operate and maintain heavy machinery on various job sites, supporting the completion of field projects by executing tasks in alignment with engineered plans. You will work closely with supervisors and field teams to ensure work is performed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation & Site Support:
- Safely operate heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, earth movers, and other related machinery per project needs.
- Perform work in accordance with engineered plans and instructions provided by Foreman and Supervisors.
- Maneuver equipment with precision to avoid damage to property and ensure worker safety.
- Respond to signals and directions from other operators and work collaboratively with field personnel to complete assignments effectively.
- Maintenance & Inspections:
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment, checking fuel, oil, fluid levels, and ensuring equipment is in proper working condition before use.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks; notify management or technicians of major repairs needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure all tools and machinery are secure when not in use.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Maintain clear communication with field supervisors and Foremen to ensure tasks are understood and completed on schedule.
- Complete documentation as required and report equipment issues or delays promptly.
- Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
- Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support the goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Heavy equipment operation: 1 year preferred.
- CDL License preferred.
Skills
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity — both are non-negotiable.
- Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves moderate manual labor in outdoor environments.
- Ability to accurately multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to self and others.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Travel to various construction sites is essential, exposing you to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk.
- Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, climb ladders, reach and handle with fingers, and differentiate colors.
- Ability to maintain a consistent workload that may involve significant physical manual labor. Projects may be inside or outside, making exposure to the elements possible.
- Perform work at various heights, up to 90' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and catwalks, and be able to work in restricted areas.
- Lift at least 50 pounds.
- Constant moving on your feet.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
