Equipment Operator I or II- Landfill - $27.80+/hr!

About The Position

As part of the Explosives Detection Canine response for the Clark County Department of Aviation, conducts emergency and routine security sweeps for the detection or deterrence of explosive threats in the airport environment. Coordinates and conducts regular canine training. Performs daily canine care and ensures the health and welfare of the canine in order to optimize team performance.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of full-time work experience related to the care, handling and training of working dogs used in security enforcement.
• Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or some law enforcement training preferred.
• Experience in an airport or security setting is desirable.
• Must be able to complete the TSA Explosives Detection Canine Team Program (EDCTP) during probation. Requires a three-year commitment upon successful completion of the course.

Working Conditions

• Work extended shifts, take call and be able to respond to the airport in a maximum of 45 minutes.
• Must be able to care for the canine 24 hours a day.
• Work inside in noisy environment, and work outside in all weather conditions.
• Work with explosives.
• Exposure to unknown and potentially dangerous situations.

Physical Demands

• Must be capable of meeting all physical requirements specified in TSA Explosives Detection Canine Team Program.
• Vision, hearing, speech and ability to communicate clearly in English.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to climb stairs.
