About the Role
Verify and keep product ready for production by performing essential duties related to material handling and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting devices.
- Operate equipment by moving levers and pressing pedals to control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Position forks, lifting platforms, or other devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, or materials and transport loads to designated areas.
- Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with needed materials.
- Attach identifying labels to materials or mark information on cases.
- Load or unload product onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding bills of lading and site directions.
- Assist with quality control and stocking when primary duties are not required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, directed, or requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills; knowledge of computerized inventory control systems preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for up to 8 hours per day.
- Walk for up to an hour.
- No fear of heights; occasional climbing.
- Occasional pushing/pulling of 11-25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, kneeling, and pushing/pulling of 36-50 pounds.
- Frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds; occasional carrying of up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
- Occasional repetitive foot movement.
- Frequent repetitive hand/arm movements for simple reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation.
- Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional use of gloves.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
- Effective communication skills.
