About the role

A Class A CDL Equipment Operator is needed for Midco. The role involves operating heavy equipment for the installation, maintenance, relocation, or repair of underground telecommunications network infrastructure. Responsibilities include operating various equipment, performing job site analysis, ensuring proper clearances, and maintaining equipment safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various equipment including mini-excavator, skid steer, and directional bore machine, for the installation or maintenance of underground utilities.
  • Properly clean and maintain equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection to ensure optimal safety.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip inspections and required reports.
  • Confirm trench/bore paths according to requirements and regulations.
  • Ensure proper clearances are in place for product installation.
  • Identify location of existing utilities on job sites.
  • Complete work functions as directed by project lead and leadership.
  • Provide instructions to other personnel on site when project lead is not present.
  • Train and guide less experienced team members.
  • Load, unload, and transport excavation equipment to/from job sites.
  • Operate and drive company vehicles safely, following all Midco policies and procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure regular maintenance and repairs are conducted as scheduled.

  • Adhere to Midco's privacy guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Complete Construction First Time Right certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and meet DOT requirements.
  • Develop working knowledge of construction, the National Electrical Code, OSHA regulations, state and local regulations, and general safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience as a Laborer working on underground telecommunications or utility infrastructure.
  • Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement preferred.
  • Excavation and Trenching Certification required.
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and SOW.

Skills

Must demonstrate the ability to learn new equipment as project needs evolve, manage a job site efficiently, and function as a lead for jobsites as directed by leadership.

Pay

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, year-round employment. Monday - Friday, 40 hrs/week minimum. Overtime higher through peak summer months. Annual merit increases.
