About the role
York Building Products is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate various types of equipment in a quarry and production environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, dozers, haul trucks, and excavators.
- Perform daily inspections and routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Report equipment issues and maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, and flexibility in daily operations.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures and operating instructions.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a quarry, mining, construction, or similar industrial environment.
- 1–2 years of experience performing preventive maintenance and lubrication services on mobile equipment.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other environmental conditions.
- Regular operation of heavy equipment and machinery.
- Compliance with all York Building Products safety policies and procedures is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to enter and exit heavy equipment safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
