About the role
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the maintenance and repair of municipal roadways, sidewalks, town-owned buildings, and town infrastructure. Working under the direction of the Highway Superintendent, the employee performs manual labor and operates mechanical equipment. The role also includes participation in the department's snow and ice removal operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair municipal roadways, sidewalks, town-owned buildings, and infrastructure
- Operate mechanical equipment for maintenance and repair tasks
- Perform manual labor as required
- Participate in snow and ice removal operations
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three to five (3 to 5) years of experience in vehicle and equipment operation for municipal roadway maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- 2B and 4G hoisting licenses
- OSHA 10 Training
- Bloodborne pathogen Training
- CPR and First Aid Certification (must be obtained and maintained within six months of appointment)
A CORI check will be conducted for the successful candidate.
