Equipment Operator

Capable of operating various pieces of equipment to keep operations moving. Performs routine duties with minimal supervision and occasional review of work in progress.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or Manager Safety & Health.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22 standards.
• Operate mobile machinery and equipment for drilling, blasting, crushing, screening, and loading hard rock, sand, gravel, and other raw materials.
• Move materials, perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, and collaborate on daily production goals.
• Operate equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively while adhering to all performance standards.
• Maintain daily cleanliness of equipment and complete assigned equipment tasks.
• Assist weekly in loading trains, dipping ponds, and grading haul roads.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership through example and knowledge sharing.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; three to five years of prior related experience required (other combinations of education and experience may be considered).
• Current North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence in English.
• Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using units of dollars, weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
• Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Demands

Light to moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.

Schedule

Normal work hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with weekend work as needed. Hours may fluctuate based on production goals.
