Equipment Operator

General Objectives

The Heavy Equipment Operator reports to the Crew Supervisor and typically works a 5x4 rotating day and night schedule in an open-pit mining operation. The primary responsibility is to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently while interacting with the Modular Dispatch System.

Key Areas Of Responsibilities & Duties

• Operate electric haul trucks and learn to operate Dozers (track and rubber tire), Back hoe, Track hoe, Scrapers and Graders, Drills (Pit Viper and DML), and Loaders and Shovels (hydraulic and electric)
• Work professionally with other employees in all situations
• Be physically capable of completing all tasks associated with the job
• Minimize delays whenever possible
• Keep equipment clean and hazard-free (proper housekeeping)
• Determine and address equipment malfunctions, and identify necessary tools and equipment
• Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure equipment is functioning correctly
• Complete company training programs on safe and efficient operation of haulage equipment, recognizing and reporting hazards, and emergency procedures
• Adhere to company policies on attendance, PTOM, and safety
• Create and maintain a strong safety culture
• Maintain detailed and accurate shift records
• Perform work area housekeeping duties, ensuring a safe work environment
• Conduct Field Level Risk Assessments
• Perform proper pre-op inspections on all equipment
• Follow Marigold Standard Operating Procedures
• Perform other duties as required

Required Skills

• Strong, positive, and effective communication skills in English, including all forms of business communication
• Able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs on a regular basis
• Able to work on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions

Required Experience

• 2+ years previous heavy equipment operator experience in a mining operations
• Comfortable operating all types of equipment in all weather conditions
