About the Role

This position is accountable for operating machinery to move construction materials, dirt, and other heavy loads, as well as operating gasoline and diesel-powered equipment that clears grades and prepares the job site. Responsibilities include operating excavation and loading machines equipped with scoops, shovels, and buckets to dig sand, gravel, dirt, and similar materials, and operating bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, and similar equipment. The role requires flexibility to work different shifts and long hours (8-12 hours), including weekends and extra hours as needed. Responsibilities

  • Fasten attachments, graders, buckets, and rollers to the tractor with hitch-pins.
  • Operate earth-moving equipment.
  • Perform inspections of equipment prior to and at the end of daily operations.
  • Grease all appropriate parts as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Maintain equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Check equipment functionality and ensure proper operation.
  • Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors promptly.
  • Maintain equipment and tools to ensure long-lasting use.
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies.
  • Report violations of laws, regulations, or policies promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including certification training and safety reviews.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Company proprietary and trade secret information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience operating earth-moving equipment.
  • Understanding of construction principles and procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management.
  • Must remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed.
  • Capable of evacuating the work area promptly in an emergency.
