Equipment Operator
About the role
The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team. This role involves performing highway, roadway, and structure maintenance using heavy equipment, assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of highway signs and guardrails, and completing various building and ground maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment for maintenance tasks such as snow and ice control/removal
- Install, repair, and maintain highway signs and guardrails
- Complete building and ground maintenance duties
- Perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, road reports, etc.
- Receive training and perform construction project duties under close supervision
Requirements
- Valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N)
- Two years of relevant experience or one year of experience and one season of winter operations similar to NDDOT for Equipment Operator II
- Valid North Dakota Class B driver license without air brake restrictions for Equipment Operator I
- Valid North Dakota Class A driver permit without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) for Equipment Operator in Training
Qualifications
- Related Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) may substitute for required work experience
- Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis

- Equipment Operator II: $4,840 per month
- Equipment Operator I: $4,289 per month
Schedule
