As an Equipment Operator II, you will operate heavy equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, cranes, and industrial forklifts to safely load, unload, and transport bulk materials, including sulfur, gravel, gypsum, potash, and slag. You'll work in a fast-paced terminal environment where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence are essential. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of heavy maritime equipment, including cranes, excavators, front-end loaders, and other machinery used in bulk cargo handling operations.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Load, unload, and transfer bulk materials between vessels, trucks, and rail while maintaining efficiency and proper cargo handling procedures.
- Work closely with terminal teams to support smooth cargo flow, maximize productivity, and minimize operational delays.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and terminal procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment usage, cargo movements, and operational activities.
- Identify equipment issues and perform basic troubleshooting or minor repairs as needed.
- Support the training and development of new operators by sharing knowledge of equipment operation and safety practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training preferred.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card required.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a maritime or bulk terminal environment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to maritime operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be flexible to work day, nights and/or weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and on elevated platforms.
