Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and other earthmoving equipment using ISO/SAE controls (Cat/JD) to support excavation, grading, and site development activities.
- Perform trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling in accordance with project plans, elevations, and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and cut sheets to ensure accurate and efficient execution of work.
- Safely excavate around and assist with installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm, electric, and gas systems.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe operation and minimize downtime.
- Coincide with laborers, pipe crews, and supervisors using hand signals and radio communication to maintain workflow and jobsite safety.
- Support site preparation activities including clearing, stripping, rough/fine grading, and loading/unloading materials.
- Load and unload materials, trucks, and equipment as needed to maintain production schedules.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety standards, maintaining awareness of surroundings and active jobsite hazards.
- Adapt to varying jobsite conditions and travel to local and out-of-town projects as required.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience operating earth moving equipment
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Can safely lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and climb out of ditches
- Good team communication skills
- Must wear proper protective equipment at all times
- Reliable transportation to travel to jobsites
- Valid state Driver’s License
- Experience with pipework
- OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred
